Where Silence Speaks
At Sokoot, we create space for silence to transform into stories of strength, healing, and resilience in the face of oppression.
About Us
What is Sokoot?
Sokoot (سکوت) means silence.
In social justice work, we ask a critical question:
Where is the silence?
Because what is not being said often carries the most meaning.
At Sokoot, silence is not empty. It is layered, political, and deeply human. We understand silence in multiple forms:
-
Silence produced by systems of oppression
-
Silence that must be broken to make room for voice
-
Silence that is chosen, after healing, as grounding, safety, and peace of mind
Oppressive systems rely on silence to survive. They want us to believe injustice is inevitable and unchangeable.
We reject that belief.
At Sokoot, we understand healing as a collective act of resistance. Listening, resting, feeling, and regulating are not passive, they are radical practices in a world that demands constant endurance.
